Policy Agreement

Client acknowledgments and agreement

1. Scope of service. I understand that services are limited to those agreed upon for the appointment. The provider does not diagnose, prescribe, change medication doses, or guarantee a medical or behavioral outcome. When veterinary direction is needed, I will provide current written instructions or prescription labeling and accurate medical information.

2. Authority and information. I confirm that I am the pet's owner or am authorized by the owner to approve services. I have disclosed known medical conditions, allergies, medication reactions, bite history, fear, aggression, escape behavior, and handling restrictions. I will promptly report changes before the appointment.

3. Safe restraint and stopping services. I will provide a safe, reasonably clean workspace and any requested restraint equipment. The provider may pause, modify, or stop a service if the pet, client, provider, another person, or another animal could be harmed. A stopped appointment may still be charged for time and travel already committed.

4. Inherent risks. I understand that even careful handling may involve stress, scratches, bites, falls, bruising, bleeding from a nail quick, temporary soreness, or worsening of an undisclosed condition. I accept ordinary and unavoidable risks inherent in the authorized service, provided reasonable care is used.

Liability, access, emergencies, and payment

5. Home and property safety. I will secure other animals, provide safe access, identify hazards, and ensure children do not interfere with handling. I am responsible for injuries or damage caused by unsafe premises, undisclosed hazards, or my pet's known or undisclosed behavior, except to the extent caused by the provider's negligence.

6. Escape prevention. I will ensure doors, gates, collars, harnesses, carriers, and restraint devices are secure and in usable condition. The provider will use reasonable care but is not responsible for escape or injury caused by defective equipment, unsafe access, or inaccurate instructions outside the provider's control.

7. Emergency authorization. If my pet appears to need urgent care, the provider may stop services and contact me, my emergency contact, my veterinarian, or the nearest emergency hospital. If I cannot be reached, I authorize reasonable steps to obtain emergency veterinary care when delay could threaten the pet's health or safety. I am responsible for veterinary, transport, and related charges. This authorization does not require the provider to transport the pet when unsafe or impracticable.

8. Release and limitation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless The Visiting Vet Tech and its owner/provider from claims arising from inherent risks, inaccurate or omitted information, my pet's behavior, unsafe premises, defective client-provided equipment, or my failure to follow instructions. This release does not apply to gross negligence, reckless or intentional misconduct, or rights that cannot legally be waived.

9. Payment. Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise agreed in writing. Any travel fee, additional-pet fee, supply charge, or other mandatory fee will be disclosed before booking or purchase. Returned or reversed payments may be subject only to disclosed, lawful processing costs.

Cancellation and appointment policy

10. 24-hour notice. Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. A cancellation or reschedule with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged 50% of the scheduled service fee. A no-show, refusal of access, or unavailability more than 15 minutes after arrival may be charged 100%. Any mandatory fee will be disclosed before the appointment is confirmed.

11. Exceptions. Fees may be waived for genuine emergencies, severe weather, unsafe travel, or circumstances outside the client's reasonable control, at the provider's discretion. If the provider must cancel, no cancellation fee applies and any prepaid service amount will be refunded or credited. Repeated cancellations may require prepayment.

12. Arrival window. Because travel and animal needs can vary, appointment times may include a reasonable arrival window communicated at booking. The provider will notify the client of material delays when reasonably possible.
